This week I attended a reception for the Tetrahedra Journal and there was an author there who spoke about her piece. She was given an assignment to write a short story using an object that belonged to a person, describe it and who it belonged to without telling who the person was directly. The author took that assignment and turned it into a poem. That was all I needed to hear. The memoir that I wrote for my Grandmother wasn't feeling complete. I went home and thought about what the author had said and decided I would try to turn my memoir to a poem. It worked! I love meeting other authors and artists, often times I go home feeling refreshed and full of new ideas. The reception was a wonderful experience.
