To be honest, I am not really sure. I do know that starting today when asked about my work I am going to proudly say that I write poetry, YA fiction, and Romance. As a writer, I need to be my biggest cheerleader and not my biggest critic and that starts with me being proud of all of my work.
I recently read an article by author J. T. Ellison on her website where she was commenting on her earlier work and how she hasn't given that work much credit even though that is where she got her start. I met an amazing Poet from Mississippi at the Clarksville Writer's Conference this past June and two years ago I met another amazing Poet from Franklin, TN. I remember sitting in both of their workshops thinking about my own poems and how I wished they flowed like that, however when anyone every ask about my writing I always talk about Shanghai Sunset manuscript, Kidd's Story manuscript, and/or The Beginning manuscript. I love writing poetry and have always wrote poetry so why when I am asked about my work, why don't I mention it?
